At ScrapAntics we are passionate about Play and its enormous importance to education, learning and community cohesion. We use Loose Parts – large, recycled resources that can be played with, built and broken in a multitude of ways.

These include: tyres, plastic tubes, guttering, ropes, cable reels, wheels, wooden pallets, barrels, wooden blocks and planks and always a few strange and unique objects! Using these, children are encouraged to be creative in their play, letting their imaginations run wild and turning neglected objects into valuable tools for learning and discovery.

We’re lucky to have a warehouse with a huge array of resources that can be used both in and out of the classroom, suitable for children of all ages and abilities. We use these in our community Play sessions, schools programme and family sessions.

Please get in touch if you are interested in Loose Parts Play or if you have items to donate we would love to hear from you!

Playful Schools

We promote and enable Play as a form of education in parallel to the school curriculum, through the supply of resources, Play sessions and training. Our work over the last few years, in partnership with Dundee City Council, has explored the many different positive outcomes of Loose Parts Play for pupils, such as confidence, teamwork, communication, social skills, educational attainment, curricular engagement and transferable skills. You can download a report we created at the bottom of this page.

We offer an annual contract of Loose Parts resources to schools in Dundee, Angus and Perth, where we source and supply Loose Parts for creative play-based learning. A school contract will buy four deliveries a year, so you receive a whole new set of Play materials every school term!

We also offer supported Play sessions, which empower schools to use Loose Parts with pupils. These sessions can be linked to the curriculum and STEAM, ie themed to a book or using measuring, gravity, numeracy etc. The sessions build pupil’s confidence and skills with Loose Parts and enable teachers to understand the psychology behind Loose Parts Play so they can embed this into the school and curriculum.

We also offer CLPL teacher training, Global Citizenship workshops and Play Champion training. Please feel free to get in touch to ask about our pricing or any part of our Loose Parts Play service.
